 WATER CLERK DUTIES AND PAY SCALE

                                       

General Definition:

He or she works in conjunction with other water clerk personnel to perform a wide variety of administrative support tasks, including research, clerical or technical duties. 

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and functions. Other related duties may be assigned.

1.     Take payments from water customer and enter date into the computer.

2.     Analyze and interpret data and prepare reports.

3.     Answer questions regarding utility operations and respond to customer complaints.

4.     Greet visitors and answer telephones and two-way radio communication device.

5.     Compose, format, finalize, interpret, distribute research, compile, calculate, analyze, process and maintain data in various forms using a variety of office equipment and software applications, including spreadsheets and databases.

6.     Purchase and maintain adequate inventory levels for various office supplies and materials.

7.     Review, evaluate, and analyze a variety of complex administrative issues and determine appropriate courses of action that may include changes to administrative processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

     Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain  

     and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the  

     job can be performed. Know and uses working knowledge of concepts, practices, procedures in                            

     Performing a variety of duties in providing administrative support. Performs work that is varied

     and moderately complex with assignments that are semi-routing in nature where ability to recognize

     deviation from accepted practice is required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

    High school education or GED plus one (1) year of general clerical or secretarial experience

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

    None.

BLADE/EQUIPMENT OPERATOR DUTIES AND PAY SCALE

                        

       General Definition:

Performs highly skilled construction and maintenance work in one or more specialized programs, incorporating standard construction and maintenance techniques to produce a finished product to required standards. Work includes traffic control set up in construction zones, and drainage right of ways maintenance generated by customer service requests. May be occasionally required to function as heavy equipment operator as assigned.

 

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and functions may include the following; other related duties may be assigned.

 

1. Operate various types of equipment including a track loader, rubber tire loader, backhoe, bobcat, front-end tire loader, and skid loader.

2. Drive 12 yard dump truck to haul equipment and hook-up and drive tractor/trailer and truck/trailer rigs to haul equipment and

    Materials.

3. Provide assistance during emergency situations involving flooding and severe weather.

4. Clear channels, creeks, and borrow ditches to minimize flooding.

5. Provide assistance to lead operator in locating utility lines.

6. Perform traffic control set up at the job site to ensure a safe working environment, places and gathers cones, flags, set out traffic

    Signs, etc.   

        7. Train others on the jobsite to ensure a safe working environment including equipment operation and maintenance.

        8. Perform manual labor as required.

        9. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

 Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or

 without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

       Knowledge of the provisions in the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relating to the operation of motorized equipment on public

       Streets and highways.

       Demonstrates skill and experience in the proper operation and maintenance of a variety of light and heavy equipment,

       With the safety practices in the operating of that equipment and two way radios.

       Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.

       Ability to produce finished quality construction with minimum rework.

       Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other employees.

    

           

     Minimum Qualifications:

 

High School graduation or GED, plus (3) years experience in maintenance and/or construction, including (2) years experience in operation of heavy duty equipment.

(1)    Year of additional related experience may substitute for (1) year of high school up to a maximum of four years substitution.

 

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

 

Licensed for the operation of commercial vehicles in the state of Texas within ninety (90) days of employment.

 TRASH COLLECTION DUTIES AND PAY SCALE

General Definition:

 

To collect residential refuse throughout the City using an automatic two man collection truck; and to clean, maintain and perform

Minor repairs on issued truck.

 

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and functions may include the following; other related duties may be assigned.

 

1. Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.

2. Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor.

3. Operate residential refuse collection vehicles throughout the City and pick up city refuse.

4. Operate hydraulic systems and controls on truck to successfully complete daily duties and tasks.

5. Deliver collection vehicles to the transfer station.

        6. Complete daily duties in allotted time and in a safe manner.

        7. Assigned route must be kept clean and maintained to meet Division Standards.

   

 

Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:

None.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

 Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or

 without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

 

       Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations.

       Knowledge of operating techniques for various pieces of machinery.

       Knowledge of basic techniques for mechanical repair.

       Ability to interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

       Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.

       Ability to perform physically strenuous duties in all weather conditions including heat, cold and extremes.

       Ability to operate a refuse collection vehicle.

       Ability to pass a medical examination and drug test.

       Ability to meet the City’s driving standards.

    

           

    

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

High School graduation or GED, three months experience performing heavy manual labor in an outside environment which may have involved collection of refuse or brush.

 

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

 

A valid class B Texas motor vehicle license.
